Not only is it good to have a native Spanish speaker as your teacher, but Blanca always made sure that the lesson was fun as well as informative.
She is patient and friendly, and always took the time to help us understand some of the harder points.

My partner and me were keen to learn Spanish and so looked for a tutor and found Blanca De La Torre. We initially chose her because she was flexible with days/times and could come to our home, which fitted in with our busy life as new parents. We had no background in Spanish and were keen to learn recreationally for holidays and just to learn another language in general. Blanca was so laid back and made us feel at ease straight away as she started from the very basics. We have a weekly lesson with Blanca who is absolutely fantastic. Working our way through verbs, language, grammar and phrases, Blanca is very knowledgeable and professional yet easy to talk to and great at answering questions. As we continue with our lessons, Blanca encourages us to speak Spanish more and more, however allows us to ask questions in English if we are stuck. This has brought our Spanish on even quicker than before and yet we still have a lot of fun in our lessons in a relaxed yet structured manner. Blanca always comes prepared for our classes, with work sheets and games. She is always punctual and I would recommend her to anyone who wanted to learn Spanish. She is great with our little girl as well and I know that she would be great at teaching children as well as adults. We have been learning Spanish for around five months now and we hope to continue for a long time. Thanks Blanca, you are a fantastic teacher!!!

Learning Spanish with Blanca has been a pleasure. I have attempted to learn a couple of languages before giving them up after finding them difficult and frustrating. From the first time I met her she was really easy to get along with and has made it really easy to progress quickly with a language that I was learning from the scratch.
The lessons are enjoyable and challenging with a good range of topics covered every week. I’d recommend Blanca as a teacher to anybody of any age that wants to learn Spanish in a comfortable environment where it is OK to get things wrong and not feel stupid, whilst processing their linguistic skills really quickly!

As someone who doesn’t take to languages easily Blanca has been the most wonderful teacher. I have previously tried night classes at a local university and online courses and have found that while the former moved too quickly for me and didn’t give me the chance to be completely confident with what I had learned before moving on, the latter didn’t keep me engaged and without the correct structure I easily lost interest.
My brother and I started learning with Blanca a year ago and not only are the lessons great fun but when I’ve felt that things were going to fast for me she has been great at going over previous lessons to make sure I was completely caught up and then staying at a pace that I could comfortably learn at. She keeps me focused by having us play games in Spanish that help me apply what I’ve learned and by being strict with me when I revert back to speaking English during lessons or stop putting effort into practicing outside of class. We have also learned a lot about Spanish culture from Blanca, this has provided me with a better depth of understanding than a normal class would and helps a lot when I put my lessons into practice and engage in conversations with Spanish people.
The lessons are flexible and fit in with my busy schedule, we meet in a small pub rather than a classroom and the atmosphere is so relaxed that it feels like a night with friends rather than a class. On sunny days we sometimes meet in the park instead.
I look forward to every lesson and am genuinely surprised at how far my and my brother’s Spanish has come in such a small space of time.

Blanca is an excellent teacher and her one to one classes are fun, relaxed and very effective. Not only is she warm and friendly but she is very good at identifying things you don’t understand and explaining them clearly. She is also great at keeping the conversation going and helps you to feel confident speaking entirely in Spanish, whatever your level. After just a few lessons I felt that I had really improved my grammar and vocabulary as well as my conversational skills. I would not hesitate to recommend Blanca’s classes to anyone looking to achieve similar results!
